Javelinas back out on the road to take on Mustangs

TAMUK heads to Wichita Falls as they prepare to take on MSU

KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team is hitting the road to take on the Midwestern State Mustangs in the first of a weekend slate of matches.

The Javelinas (17-6, 9-2 LSC) are going into Friday's match after keeping their streak alive taking down the UTPB Falcons in four sets. The Blue and Gold are now trying to continue their recent road success as they have been able to flip their fortunes to a 4-3 record when playing on the road, winning their last three away from the SPEC.

With the season winding down, and the postseason race heating up, every match counts as the Javelinas find themselves in fourth place in the conference currently. This matchup has implications more so for the Javelinas, but that doesn't mean the Mustangs can't play spoiler as they come into the match second in the LSC in digs with 17.87 Avg/S. The Javelinas come into the match cracking the top five in categories of their own, however. Being at the number five slot in Hitting percentage with a .240, and Service Aces with 1.72 Avg/S

Midwestern State (4-20, 1-11 LSC) comes into Friday dropping a road match of their own three sets to one against the Western New Mexico Mustangs, where they hit a .254 and had 51 kills on the evening.

The Javelinas and Mustangs have met a grand total 38 times dating back to 1989, where the Javs hold a 26-12 all-time record against them. The last time these squads met was the 2022 season where the Javelinas took the match three sets to one on their home court.
