TAMUK tames Grizzlies in late game comeback

ALAMOSA, Colorado- The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's basketball team took to the court in the state of Colorado once again, this time inside the Plachy Hall Gym, where they defeated the Adams State Grizzlies 69-66.

"Incredible effort by our team tonight on the road against an extremely talented and well coached Adams State team." said coach Michael Madrid. "There were so many times we could have folded but stayed true to who we are and finally settled in and made some plays down the stretch. We tested our group this week being on the road and they responded well. Looking forward to our next opportunity".

The Grizzlies would respond with 5 points of their own before the Javelinas would end the quarter on a 4-0 run putting the game at 19-16 going into the second.

The Grizzlies would begin the second on a 5-0 run retaking the lead 21-19 with 8:51 left to go in the second before TAMUK would put up five of their own restoring the lead 24-21 with 7:13 to go. An Adams State jumper and a Shelby Ray layup would be the only scoring for a full two minutes and nine seconds of gameplay as both squads had trouble getting shots to fall. That would change however when Alyssa O' Malley drains both from the charity stripe putting the Javelinas up 28-23 with 3:44 left in the half. The Grizzlies would respond however going on a 13-4 run to end the quarter sending the teams to the locker room with Adams State up 36-32.
