LAWTON, Okla. (Baseball) – Christian Caudle went 4-for-5 and
Pablo Hernandez and
Jimmy Roche each registered two base knocks in #RV/26 Texas A&M University-Kingsville's (31-16, 16-8 LSC) 8-2 loss to Cameron University (29-18, 10-10 LSC).
With the loss, Angelo State University has been named the Lone Star Conference champion and will host the Lone Star Conference Tournament for the second straight season May 11-13 at Foster Field at 1
st Community Credit Union Stadium. The Javelinas will be the No. 2 seed and take on No. 3 West Texas A&M University.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Cameron scored two runs in the bottom of the first and added four in the third to take a 6-0 lead. Adding two more in the sixth, the Javelinas countered with two runs in the top of the eighth. The Aggies swept the series and took possession of the final playoff spot in the 2017 Lone Star Conference Tournament May 11-13 at Foster Field in San Angelo.
Levi Zents' two-run double followed Caudle's single and Hernandez's double that begin the eighth.
WIN-LOSS RECORDS
John Millan (4-0) struck out nine in 6.0 shutout innings for the victory.
Zach Wilson (4-3) was charged with the loss after allowing six runs in 2.2 innings.
Trey Taylor tossed 2.0 shutout innings.
UP NEXT
The LSC Tournament is next May 11-13 in San Angelo, Texas. The Javelinas will take on West Texas A&M in the opening round.
