#RV Baseball Sweeps Doubleheader

Javelinas improve to 23-10, 9-2 in LSC play

KINGSVILLE, Texas (Baseball) – Jimmy Roche and Hunter Perkins blasted home runs, Kohl Ullman went 4-for-7 with three runs scored from the leadoff spot and Isaiah Lybarger threw 6.0 innings of one-run ball in #RV Texas A&M University-Kingsville's (23-10, 9-2 LSC) 10-8, 4-1 doubleheader sweep of Eastern New Mexico University (27-14, 5-8 LSC) Friday at Nolan Ryan Field.

GAME ONE
Pablo Hernandez went 4-for-4 with two RBI and Perkins went yard for the second consecutive game, finishing 2-for-3 with four RBI in the 10-8 game one victory. Ullman (2-for-3, two runs), Christian Caudle (2-for-3, two runs) and Levi Zents (2-for-2, three runs, two walks) all recorded multi-hit games.

HOW IT HAPPENED
A big first inning put Kingsville ahead 4-0 behind two hits; the dagger coming off the bat of Perkins, whose three-run shot followed Caudle's sacrifice fly.

Eastern New Mexico scored a run in the second and the Hogs continued to pile up the runs, giving fans at Nolan Ryan Field discounted Whataburger with three runs in the second on five hits. Roche singled in a run and Hernandez drove in two on a single of his own, putting TAMUK in front 7-1.

The Greyhounds cut it to 7-5 with a run in the third and three in the fourth before Perkins' sacrifice fly in the fourth made it 8-5 Javelinas. For good measure, two more came around in the sixth to give a five-run cushion.

WIN-LOSS RECORD
Preston Plovanich (5-1) received the victory with five strikeouts in 4.0 innings of work. Jako Kelm picked up his second save of the season with a scoreless seventh.

Austin Paisar (4-3) was charged with the loss after allowing seven runs in 1.2 innings.

GAME TWO
The Javelinas came up with clutch hitting and Lybarger allowed just one run in 6.0 innings as Texas A&M-Kingsville defeated Eastern New Mexico 4-1 to sweep the doubleheader. Ullman went 2-for-4 and Roche, Caudle and Zents each drove in a run.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Roche showed his power in the first with a solo shot – his third long ball of the season – putting TAMUK on the board first.

Lybarger tossed 3.0 shutout innings before ENMU knotted it at 1-1 in the fourth. However, the Javelinas put three on the scoreboard in the fifth behind five hits to regain the lead 4-1.

WIN-LOSS RECORD
Lybarger was lights out and efficient, allowing the one run in 6.0 innings of work. He improved to 4-2 on the year. Keenan Dodd fell to 6-2 after allowing four runs in 4.2 innings. Hunter Lehman threw a shutout seventh for his second save of the season.
