PORTALES, N.M. (Women's Basketball) – The Javelina offense shot 52 percent from the field with four players reaching double figures and Texas A&M University-Kingsville (13-13, 8-12 LSC) pulled down 46 rebounds to #RV/18 Eastern New Mexico University's (20-7, 16-4 LSC) 32 in a 85-71 victory over the top ranked Greyhounds Saturday afternoon in Greyhound Arena.
The matchup is set to take place again in the first round of the Lone Star Conference Championship Thursday at 6 p.m. with the Hogs looking to play Cinderella as the No. 8 seed. The tale was obvious as Kingsville outscored ENMU 21-12 in the second period and 24-13 in the fourth.
Tee Moore led the Hogs with 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting and added four rebounds, three assists and two steals.
Meesha Wade followed with 14 points, six rebounds and two steals and fellow senior
Kaylin Roher registered 13 points, three dimes and two steals. Junior
Angelica Wilson continued her strong second half with 13 points on 4-of-7 shooting off the bench. Jelly was a perfect 5-for-5 from the charity stripe.
FIRST PERIOD
Eastern New Mexico shot 52.9 percent from the field in the opening period to jump out to a 28-22 lead. Wilson held the Javelinas close with five points off the bench and four of
Kaylee Kana's 14 rebounds came in the first quarter.
SECOND PERIOD
Texas A&M-Kingsville's offense took complete control in the second half, going 7-of-12 with 13 points coming from Roher and Moore to close out the first half with a 43-40 lead. Wilson and Roher scored nine points apiece and Moore scored eight points. With the three-pointer in the first half, KRo surpassed Javelina Hall of Famer
Pat Lewandowski for fifth on the school's all-time three-pointers made list with 116.
THIRD PERIOD
Down six with 5:34 left, A&M-Kingsville scored seven unanswered points, capped off by a triple by
Shaq Debose at the 3:28 mark to put the Hogs ahead 54-53. The clubs traded points but TAMUK went into the final period of regulation up 61-58.
FOURTH PERIOD
The turning point was midway through the fourth as the Javelina defense stood tall, holding ENMU to 3-of-23 shooting in the fourth overall and 1-of-17 in the final minutes. Offensively, A&M-Kingsville went on a 10-0 run from 5:12 to 1:21 to extend its lead to 13. When the clock hit 0:00, the home crowd was stunned as an upset was complete in Portales, New Mexico, as the Javelinas defeated their next opponent by double figures.

After splitting the regular season matchups, the eighth seeded Hogs battle the top ranked Greyhounds Thursday at 6 p.m. Eastern New Mexico won a share of the LSC championship for the first time in program history and held the tiebreaker over Angelo State University.
