Texas A&M-Kingsville hit two bombs off of the bats of Victoria Schoonard-Saborio and Roxy Chapa for four runs in the loss to Angelo State. Schoonard-Saborio went 2-of-3 at the dish with three RBI's and Chapa's one hit was a solo shot. Lauren Oatman and Randa Hatter picked up the other two hits for the Javelinas.Â

At the top of the third inning, Oatman led off with a single up the middle. She advanced to third base after two wild pitches and Haley Boyett was walked to have runners on the corners. With two outs, Schoonard-Saborio came to the plate and crushed a pitch, sending the ball over the left field fence to put the Hogs up 3-0. Kenedy Urbany responded with a leadoff homer for the Belles in the bottom of the inning and soon after Courtney Barnhill crossed home plate after singling to follow the dinger. Hogs ended the third inning ahead 3-2 after throwing a Belle out at home plate as she was caught stealing.
TAMUK failed to cross a run in the fourth and ASU continued with its momentum from the previous inning by scoring six runs highlighted by a grand slam from K. Rocha, giving Angelo State an 8-3 cushion.Â
Chapa answered in the next inning with her first long ball of the season, but Angelo State scored three more runs in the sixth inning after a three-run shot from Alexis Evans to pad the lead and end the series opener, 11-4.
The series will conclude on tomorrow with the Javelinas and Rambelles playing a doubleheader beginning at 12 p.m.
