KINGSVILLE, Texas (Women's Basketball) – Miscues allowed the Lady Buffs to dominate the second half as West Texas A&M University (20-6, 13-4 LSC) defeated Texas A&M University-Kingsville (11-12, 6-11 LSC) 70-49 Thursday evening in the Gil E. Steinke Physical Education Center-Kingsville Hampton Inn Court.

Shaq Debose and
Emmeri Archer led the Javelinas with 13 points, 10 points and 10 points, respectively, all off the bench as the second unit of the Blue and Gold outscored the Lady Buffs 39-13. However, West Texas A&M made the most of Kingsville's turnovers to take control of the game with 29 points off turnovers to TAMUK's four. The 13 points for Jelly were a season-high and the 10 for Archer were also tops in her first season in a Javelina uniform.
FIRST PERIOD
The Javelinas were on the wrong end of a 15-8 ballgame through the opening 10 minutes.
SECOND PERIOD
Emmeri Archer's layup at the 8:04 mark made it a five-point ballgame in favor of the Lady Buffs but a 7-0 run extended the lead to double figures.
An injury to senior
Joslyn Smith cut the air out of the SPEC but the Javelinas came away from the rough play with a three by Debose. At the half, A&M-Kingsville trail 33-20. Wilson came off the bench with five points and four rebounds and
Kaylin Roher added three steals.
THIRD PERIOD
A close third quarter featured Debose reach double figures for the second consecutive contest as the sophomore scored 10 points and added four rebounds and three assists with 1:31 remaining in the frame. The third period ended with a second chance bucket for WT to extend its lead to 50-31.
FOURTH PERIOD
Texas A&M-Kingsville's second unit continued to play well but the Lady Buffs were able to secure the victory 70-49.
