Javelinas Back at Home to Wrap Up First Half of Conference Schedule

Texas A&M-Kingsville is 3-2 at home this season

KINGSVILLE, Texas –  The first half of the Lone Star Conference schedule for Texas A&M University-Kingsville's volleyball team (11-8, 4-4 LSC) will conclude this weekend when Cameron University (5-12, 2-7 LSC) and Midwestern State University (9-9, 3-6 LSC) heads to the Gil E. Steinke Physical Education Center.  
 
The Javelinas will face Cameron in their annual Dig Pink match and will hand out 200 pink totes on Friday, October 13 at 7 p.m. Following Friday's match, TAMUK will face off against Midwestern State on Saturday, October 14 at 2 p.m. Live stats and stream will be available free of charge at javelinaathletics.com.   
 
Kingsville has been a consistent club this season as the lead the LSC with 1,256 total digs, holding its opponents to a .169 clip. On the offensive side, the team ranks second in the conference with 932 kills and 105 aces. They are also tied for third with a .217 attack percentage. 
 
Krystal Faison continues to be the tone setter offensively with 192 kills (2.56 kills per set) and is tied for second in the league with 27 aces. Lexi Wick follows with 179 kills and is tailed by junior Madison Brabham (170 kills) who logged 37 kills in two matches played last weekend. Casey Klobedans heads the LSC with 705 total assists and Haley Hutchinson leads the team with 69 blocks while adding 118 kills. Gabby Atchley rounds out the top hitters with 107 kills.    
  
Cameron will head to the SPEC in search of their first road win of the season after coming off of a pair of losses at that hands of Tarleton State and Angelo State. As a unit, they hit .177 with 11.48 kills per set and ranks fourth with 2.06 kills per set. Paige Dixon leads the team with 201 kills and is fifth in the conference with 3.09 kills per set. Ashleigh McFatridge is the other top hitter in double figures, gathering 129 kills with an attack percentage of .222. Brandy Carr has a team-high 1.08 blocks per set to go along with 92 kills and Brittnee Altic is fourth in the LSC with 25 aces.  
 
Despite trailing in the all-time series 13-23, Texas A&M-Kingsville has won six of the last ten matches against Cameron and is currently on a two-match winning streak.  
 
Although fresh off of a four-set win against Lubbock Christian, Midwestern State has lost its last three matches in league play. The Mustangs hit .176 as a team, but is strong defensively, as they hold opponents to a .169 attack percentage and registers 2.14 blocks per set. A trio of MSU athletes has over 130 kills, starting with Meghan Bettis (151), Addison Semer (144), and Rockelle Gholson (138). Raven Presley heads the defense with 65 blocks and adds 94 kills.  
 
The Hoggies control the all-time series 20-11, are 9-3 when playing at home against the Mustangs and is currently on a six-match win streak dating back to 2014.
