KINGSVILLE, Texas (Baseball) – Dalton Perry returned from injury with the same intensity at the plate, going a combined 5-for-5 at the dish and pitching continued to be the highlight reel as
Preston Plovanich (2-0) and
Jacob Foitek (2-0), who came off back-to-back complete games in wins at Eastern New Mexico University, dominated on the rubber to lead No. t-25 Texas A&M University-Kingsville (19-7, 10-4 LSC) to a doubleheader sweep Friday at Nolan Ryan Field, 2-1, and, 11-0, over Tarleton State University (11-15, 5-9 LSC).
Plovanich and Foitek combined to allow just one unearned run in 14.0 innings of work and the duo continued their winning ways.
Perry and
Pablo Hernandez went yard in game two and the offense exploded for 11 runs on 16 hits.
Hayden Vesely extended his reached base safely streak to 24 games, Perry's streak is now at 15 games and
Christian Caudle and
Zach Smith are at 13 games and 10 games, respectively. Perry and Hernandez registered four hits apiece in the second game.
Game OnePlovanich extended his scoreless inning streak to 15.2 innings before an unearned run came around to score but the southpaw continued to be a huge presence on the mound for the Hogs, defeating Tarleton State University 2-1. The victory gave Plovanich his second win of the season as the freshman left-hander struck out three in 6.1 innings.
Lance Elling picked up the first save of his Javelina career after shutting the door with the game's final two outs.
Jimmy Roche's opposite field double in the bottom of the first plated Smith, who led off the frame with a single, and after the Texans were able to tie the game at 1-1 in the sixth, pinch hitter Perry, appearing in his first game since March 6, drove in a run on a bases loaded single to allow Texas A&M-Kingsville to regain the one-run lead. That was all the dominating pitching staff needed as the Hogs took game one, 2-1. Trevor Renfro (4-2) was tagged with the loss despite the complete game for TSU.
Roche finished 1-for-2 with a run scored, double and stolen base and Smith was 1-for-3 from the leadoff spot.
Game TwoMuch like game one, pitching was as dominant as ever. Combined with an offense that scored 11 runs, six in the fourth, highlighted by home runs by Hernandez and Perry, Texas A&M-Kingsville secured themselves a Friday sweep, taking the second game 11-0.
The Pack jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the bottom of the first following four consecutive hits and an RBI single by Hernandez. Perry reached on an infield single, Vesely doubled to right to put runners on second and third and

The huge fourth inning began with Smith's single to left field. Hernandez followed with his sixth long ball of the season to give Texas A&M-Kingsville a 5-0 lead and
Wesley Aguilar reached on a single and scored after moving up on wild pitches. A
Brayton Carlson walk was followed with a two-run blast off the bat of Perry to make it an 8-0 ballgame and moments later, Vesely scored on a wild pitch for the inning's sixth run and TAMUK's ninth run.
The offense continued clicking in the fifth with Hernandez leading off the bottom frame with a double, followed by a Caudle walk and Aguilar infield single. RBI singles by Carlson and Perry gave the Javelinas an 11-0 lead.
