Lily Hospers picked up nine rebounds and two steals in Texas A&M University-Kingsville's (5-19, 0-14 LSC) 66-55 loss to Texas Woman's University (19-7, 9-5 LSC) Thursday evening at the Gil E. Steinke Physical Education Center-Kingsville Hampton Inn Court.
Thursday's game was the annual Play4Kay campaign as the Javelinas supported Breast Cancer Awareness.
Early in the fourth,
Treka Franklin hit back-to-back triples for the Javelinas to make it a 51-43 ballgame with 9:12 remaining. However, Texas Woman's was able to regain its momentum and earn the season sweep over the Hogs.
The Pioneers were led by Kenesha Saygo's 14 points and Taylor Nolan scored 10 off the bench.
The Javelinas scored 11 points in transition and went into halftime trailing 30-21.
Texas A&M-Kingsville heads to Lawton, Okla. to take on Cameron University Saturday, Feb. 20.
