KINGSVILLE, Texas (Women's Basketball) – Kaylin Roher and
Kyra Bauer took control of the game in the second half, combining for 23 points, four steals and three assists and the Javelinas had their chances to regain their lead but Texas A&M University-Kingsville (5-18, 0-13) fell to Midwestern State University (5-19, 4-10 LSC), 68-63, Wednesday evening at the Gil E. Steinke Physical Education-Center.
Roher finished with a team-high 18 points on 4-8 shooting from three-point range,
Jamesha Wade added 15 and Bauer concluded her second to last week in a Javelina uniform with 14 points.
Wade provided much of the offense in the first half, scoring 11 points in the first period to lead the Javelinas to a 16-15 lead. Wade added two points in the second to head into the half with 13 points but the Javelinas trailed 31-27 after the first two periods. Whitney Taylor provided 11 points for MSU.
The Javelinas outscored the Mustangs, 19-14, in the fourth period and had their share of opportunities after cutting their deficit to two with 6:40 remaining in the game.
Texas A&M-Kingsville hosts Texas Woman's University tomorrow at 7 p.m. for the Play4Kay Game. The first 250 fans will receive a free water bottle courtesy of CHRISTUS Spohn Hospital Kleberg.
