KINGSVILLE, Texas (Women's Basketball) – Jamesha Wade finished with a season-high 17 points and added seven rebounds but Texas A&M University-Kingsville (5-16, 0-11 LSC) fell to Texas A&M University-Commerce (14-10, 7-5 LSC), 63-52, Wednesday evening at the Gil E. Steinke Physical Education Center-Kingsville Hampton Inn Court.
The junior went 6-7 from the foul line and dished out three assists and
Lily Hospers came off the bench with nine rebounds and three blocked shots.
A back and forth opening period went to the Lions, 12-10, but Kingsville stormed back and went into the half with a 20-19 lead.
Kaila Chizer pulled down five rebounds in the opening half in just five minutes of work.
Adding to its lead, the Javelinas scored 18 points in the third period to take a two-point lead into the final quarter. The Lions strung together a late rally to upend the Hogs by 11. Despite the loss, Kingsville gave one of the hottest teams in the Lone Star Conference trouble all game, behind Wade's 17 and
Kyra Bauer's 11 points and six rebounds.
The Hogs head to Tarleton State University Saturday for a 5 p.m. bout with the TexAnns.
