DENTON, Texas – Sophomore setter
Casey Klobedans of the Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team recorded her sixth double-double of the season in a 3-0 loss (25-20, 25-16, 25-18) at Texas Woman's in Kitty Magee Arena. Klobedans finished the match with 26 assists and 11 digs.
The Javelinas fell to 7-6 overall and 1-2 in the Lone Star Conference while the Pioneers are now 9-3 and 3-1 in conference action.
Pacing the Blue and Gold with 10 kills was
Valarie Moehrig. Leading the team at the service line was
Ashley Bukowski with three aces.
Defensively,
Haley Hutchinson finished with four blocks and Klobedans added three. Libero
Brett Zaccardo was credited with a match-high 14 digs.
The first two sets saw TWU jump out to an early lead and maintain it the entire time for a 2-0 advantage.
In the third, TAMUK took their largest lead of the match 7-3 following a kill by Hutchinson. The Pioneers responded with five straight points to go back in front.
An attack error by the home team started a 5-1 run for the Javelinas. Capping off the scoring stretch was a kill courtesy of Hutchinson. The Blue and Gold were held to only four kills the rest way, two coming from Moehrig.
TAMUK returns to the court Saturday afternoon at Texas A&M-Commerce. First serve in the match is slated for 2 p.m. in The Field House.
