SAN ANTONIO, Texas (Women's Basketball) –
The final nonconference game saw the Javelinas take on the University of Texas at San Antonio (4-4) Saturday afternoon at the Convocation Center and the Roadrunners were able to shoot 53.6 percent from the field in a 88-51 victory over Texas A&M University-Kingsville (5-5).
 
Ope Ibrahim went 3-of-4 from the field for 10 points off the bench and Treka Franklin and Kaila Chizer added five points apiece in the exhibition. Leading the team with 11 points and four assists was Kaylin Roher and Kaylee Kana added nine points and three rebounds.
 
The Javelinas and Roadrunners traded points in the opening period and UTSA held a slim 19-16 lead after one. However, a 29-10 run in the second blew the game open for the Conference USA member with a 48-26 lead at the half.
 
The second half continued to be all UTSA as Kingsville hit just one field goal in the third as the Division I Roadrunners defeated the Javelinas, 88-51.
 
Tesha Smith finished with 17 points on 7-of-10 shooting for Texas-San Antonio, Alexus Dukes added 12 points and Crystal Chidomere came off the bench to provide 10 points and four steals. UTSA boasted such a high field goal percentage with 50 of its points coming in the paint and the Roadrunners made the Javelinas pay off turnovers, scoring 26 points on TAMUK's 18 miscues.
 
The Javelinas end the 2015 portion of the season 5-5 overall in regular season play. They begin Lone Star Conference action on Jan. 6 at A&M-Commerce.
