Faison Records 19th Double-Double of the Season in Regular Season Finale

KINGSVILLE, Texas – Sophomore Krystal Faison finished with 10 kills and digs to record her 19th double-double of the season. However, the Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team fell to West Texas A&M in three sets (25-19, 25-13, 25-17) in the regular season finale Saturday afternoon in the Gil H. Steinke Physical Education Center-Kingsville Hampton Inn Court.

The Javelinas fell to 19-14 overall and 8-8 in the Lone Star Conference while the Lady Buffs are now 16-16 and 5-11 in league play.

Haley Hutchinson added seven kills with a team-high .286 attack percentage. Casey Klobedans was credited with 25 assists and was successful on both of her attack attempts. Defensively, Brett Zaccardo recorded a match-high 15 digs and Madison Brabham finished with four blocks.

A 6-1 run put the Javelinas up 9-6 in the first set. During the scoring stretch, Hutchinson recorded three consecutive kills. WT responded by taking 10 of the next 11 points to take the lead for the rest of the stanza.

TAMUK jumped out to an early 3-1 advantage in the second after back-to-back errors from the Lady Buffs. However, WT answered with a 7-1 run that allowed them to stay in front the rest of the way to go up two sets to none.

A slow start by the Blue and Gold permitted the Lady Buffs to jump out in front and not relinquish the lead the entire third set. WT recorded 14 kills in the stanza and held the Javelinas to seven kills.

The Blue and Gold enter the LSC Tournament as the fourth seed and will take on Cameron at 5 p.m. on Thursday in the first round. The tournament will take place in Stephenville, Texas Nov. 19-21.
