KINGSVILLE, Texas (Volleyball) –
Texas A&M University-Kingsville (14-9) improved to 7-3 in its last 10 matches with a straight set victory over St. Edward's University (5-13), 25-18, 25-18, 25-19, Thursday evening at the Gil H. Steinke Physical Education Center-Kingsville Hampton Inn Court.

The match was TAMUK's Dig Pink match in support of Breast Cancer Awareness. The seven wins came against South Central regional opponents and this was a balanced attack, with 59 team digs and 7.0 team blocks. Two players finished with double-doubles in Krystal Faison (10 kills, 11 digs) and Casey Klobedans (31 assists, 12 digs) and Haley Hutchinson added seven kills and five blocks – four solo – in the win. Ashley Bukowski led all players with 13 kills and Brett Zaccardo had three service aces.

"It's great to win in front of fans that came out in full force to support us and wear pink in Breast Cancer awareness," said head coach Tanya Allen. "We have a tough second half of Lone Star Conference action ahead of us so coming out with a win is crucial."

Four team blocks in set one and six kills by Faison paced the Javelinas in the 25-18 victory in the opening set. Hutchinson registered two solo blocks and one assisted block and added three kills. Zaccardo finished with five digs.

The same outcome in set two allowed the Hogs to take a 2-0 edge. Zaccardo went into set No. 3 with nine digs and three service aces, Klobedans had a game-high 21 assists and they had nine digs apiece. Faison and Bukowski paced the squad with a combined 16 kills and Bukowski led the way with a .467 hitting percentage.

A close third set ultimately went to Kingsville as the Hogs clinched the victory over the Hilltoppers.

For SEU, Mikayla Grill finished with 10 kills and 11 digs and Morgan Beckham added 19 digs.

The Javelinas return to the court on Oct. 23 when they resume Lone Star Conference action, beginning the second half of play versus Midwestern State University.
