Valarie Moehrig lead Texas A&M-Kingsville with 13 kills in the 3-0 (25-22, 25-22, 25-23) loss to Newman Saturday afternoon in The Box. The defeat snapped a four-match winning streak for the Javelinas.
TAMUK falls to 13-9 overall while the Jets saw their record improve to 17-4.
Ashley Bukowski led the Blue and Gold with a .500 attack percentage while contributing nine kills, 12 digs and four blocks. With her 31 assists,
Casey Klobedans became the seventh Javelinas to surpass 2,000 assists in her career.
Seven blocks, two of them solo, were recorded by freshman
Haley Hutchinson. Both
Krystal Faison and
Brett Zaccardo had 11 digs on the afternoon.
The Javelinas hit .189 with 36 kills compared to 51 kills and a .252 attack percentage by NU. TAMUK did outblock the Jets 9-6.
On Thursday, the Hogs host St. Edward's at 7 p.m. in the Gil H. Steinke Physical Education Center-Kingsville Hampton Inn Court for Dig Pink Night. The first 100 fans will receive a free pink t-shirt.
