
ABILENE, TEXAS – The Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball continued to struggle away from home in Lone Star Conference matches on Tuesday night when they lost 25-19, 25-19, 25-16 at Abilene Christian. (

The Wildcats (12-10, 7-5) were able to control the action at the net and force the Javelinas (10-9, 4-8) into numerous attack errors throughout the match. The Wildcats had a total of 10 team blocks and held the Hoggies to a .010 attack percentage for the match. The loss dropped the Javs to 1-5 in LSC road matches this year.
The Javelinas had 32 kills in the match, but also had 31 attack errors. Kelsey Washington (Cuero/Cuero HS) led the team with eight kills and four blocks, but had a negative attack percentage. Sondra Cui (Schertz/Steele HS) dished out a team high 23 assists while Ali Insell (The Woodlands/The Woodlands HS) led the defense with 11 digs.
The Wildcats attacked at a .261 clip and tallied 38 kills. Jennie Hutt led all players with 14 kills while Neely Borger had seven kills, six blocks and a .429 attack percentage. Setter Haley Rhoads handed out 34 assists while Kelsie Edwards added 10 digs.
The Javelinas are back in action on Thursday night at home against Eastern New Mexico at 7 p.m. The official match sponsor is El Dorado Restaurant in Kingsville.
