The Javelinas (5-8, 2-2) struggled on the attack all match long as they committed 31 attack errors while the Mustangs (8-6, 3-1) committed only nine. The Mustangs controlled the play at the net with 12.0 total blocks.
Freshman Lauryn Lozano (San Antonio/Smithson Valley HS) led the Hoggie attack with 13 kills. Amanda Waclawczyk (Poth/Poth HS) added 10 kills. Defensively, Virginia Hernandez (Katy/Katy HS) led the team with 15 digs while Ali Insell (The Woodlands/The Woodlands HS) added 14 digs. Setter Amanda Yeager (Brenham/Brenham HS) posted a double-double with 18 assists and 10 digs.
The Mustangs attacked at a .225 rate for the match. Karolina Damjanovic and Lauren Bayer combined for 17 kills and a .375 attack to lead the team. Taryn Westerman directed the attack with 27 assists while Kiara Jordan led the squad with 19 digs. Bayer also led all players with six blocks.
The Javelinas are back in action on Wednesday night at Incarnate Word at 7 p.m.
