Javelinas Knock off MSU

    KINGSVILLE---The Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team rallied from a one-game deficit to upset Midwestern State, 3-1, here Saturday afternoon on the Steinke Center Hampton Inn Court.
   
Midwestern, tied for the Lone Star Conference lead going into the match with a 4-0 record, won the opening game, 25-23, before the Javelinas caught fire for 25-20, 25-20 and 25-22 victories.
   
Kristin Chancellor led the Javelinas offensively with 13 kills and no errors for a .591 attack percentage.
   
Adina Gray had 18 kills and a .417 attack percentage and Sha Tramble had 10 kills and a .222 percentage.
   
Chancellor had five blocks and Amanda Waclawczyk four.
   
Kirby Krueger had 28 sets and Tara Grier 25.
   
Virginia Hernandez led the defense with 24 digs and five of the Javelinas were in double figures in digs. Ali Insell had 18, Grier and Tramble 13 each and Krueger 12.
   
The victory gives the Javelinas a 12-9 season's record and a 2-4 LSC mark. 
   
Midwestern fell to 8-17 for the year and 4-1 in the league standings.
   
The Javelinas will be in Oklahoma next week for LSC matches, taking on Southeastern Oklahoma Thursday in Durant and East Central Saturday afternoon in Ada.
