Kingsville – Senior Heidi Scheopner got her third triple-double of the season, but the Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball dropped a Lone Star Conference match to Texas Women’s University 28-30, 30-14, 22-30, and 29-31.
The loss drops the Javelinas to 7-7 overall and 2-3 in the LSC, while the Pioneers improved to 9-7 and 3-1.
“We didn’t come ready to win,” said Javelina head coach Shannon Alvarado, “We were playing tentative.”
Scheopner had 14 kills, 16 digs, and 26 assists in the losing effort. Sha Tramble led the Javelinas in kills with 17, and Tara Grier led the team in digs with 34.
The Javelinas got off to great 5-1 start in game one and led 24-18 before the Pioneers scored 12 of the final 16 points in game won to win 30-28.
The Javelinas dominated game two running out to a 16-6 lead before winning by 16, 30-14.
Game three was very close with 10 ties and five lead changes. The final tie came at 12-12, where TWU then went on a 12-5 run leading to the Pioneer win, 30-22.
The Javelinas began game four slow, trailing 11-7 before taking their only lead of the game at 19-18. Down 28-26, the Javelinas rallied to tie the game at 29, but the Pioneers won the final two points to win the match.
