Javelina Volleyball Bounces Back To Beat ACU On The Road

A&M-Kingsville splits LSC roadtrip

   Abilene – Freshman Sha Tramble had 13 kills and 15 digs to lead the Texas A&M-Kingsville Javelina volleyball team to a 3-1 win at Abilene Christian in a Lone Star Conference match.

   The win improved the Javelinas record to 7-6 overall and 2-2 in the LSC while Abilene Christian lost its first league match of the year and fell to 6-7 overall and 2-1 in the LSC.

   After losing a 2-0 lead Thursday night in a five-game loss to Angelo State to start the roadtrip, but didn’t repeat it by winning the first two games 30-26 and 30-15, losing game three 32-30, but putting the match away with a 30-28 win in game four.

   ACU had more kills, 59-51, but also had many more attack errors, 40-25.

   Freshman Laura Eidson had a career-high nine kills while Mollie Biega, Heidi Scheopner and Shaday Smith each had seven. Scheopner also had 27 assists, five block assists and eight digs.

 In game one the two teams were tied at 26, but the Javelinas won the last four points to take the game. In game two A&M-Kingsville jumped out to a 5-1 lead and closed out the game by winning 10 of the last 13 points.

   After dropping game three, the Javelinas and Wildcats were tied at 28, but Kristen Chancellor picked up a kill to give the Javelinas a 29-28 lead and ACU had an attack error to end the match.

   Texas A&M-Kingsville returns home Thursday to host Texas Woman’s University in an LSC match.
