San Angelo -- After dominating the first two games, the Texas A&M-Kingsville volleyball team let an opportunity to win a Lone Star Conference road match slip away in falling to Angelo State 3-2.
The Javelinas saw their two-match winning streak come to an end and fell to 6-6 overall and 1-2 in league play. Angelo State won their second consecutive match to improve to 4-9 and 2-0.
The Javelinas won the first two games in convincing fashion, 30-20 and 30-18.
In game one the Javelinas jumped out to leads of 4-0 and 8-1 and 14-4. After that, Angelo State never got to within eight points. Â
It was much of the same in game two as A&M-Kingsville led 5-2 and 17-8 and the Rambelles never got any closer than seven points the rest of the way.
Bu the final three games went the way of the Rambelles 30-28, 30-21, 15-11.
"We lost our ball control and they took us out of rhythm. Give them credit. We didn't give them the respect they deserved after the first two games. We started out well, but we didn't finish."
The Javelinas remain on the road as they take on Abilene Christian Saturday afternoon.
