Murff led the Javelina volleyball program to its eighth consecutive win to open the season behind a three-set sweep of Texas A&M International at the Steinke Physical Education Center on Saturday. She collected 28 digs to fuel the defense that held the Dustdevils to a .103 hitting percentage for the match, including a -.057 mark in the first set.

Murff’s efforts so far in the fall have her sitting atop the LSC in digs per set with a mark of 5.73 as she picked up her first LSC Defensive Player of the Week award yesterday from the league office. It was the second time TAMUK had a student-athlete honored by the LSC with the weekly citation, following sophomore Jackie Alanis (McAllen, Texas) who took home the award on the offensive half of the net last week.

Murff was also the first Javelina to be named LSC Defensive Player of the Week since Haley Hutchinson on October 25, 2016 and it marks the first time since 2011 the program had student-athletes honored in consecutive weeks.
