Junior Fahtima Avila (Brownsville, Texas) led the way for the Javelinas with a stellar second trip around the course, resulting in a five-over-par score of 76, featuring back-to-back birdies on the sixth and seventh holes to finish in a tie for 17th on the individual leaderboard, her best finish of the fall campaign. For her efforts, she was named the IBC Bank Player of the Week for the first time in her career in the Blue and Gold.
Her first 18-hole score placed her in the top-20 as she slotted in a tie for 12th with a three-over-par score of 74. She fired off a trio of birdies, one going into the clubhouse and the other two coming out as she dropped the first on the second hole and added the others on the 10th and 16th holes.
