Joseph tabbed 10 tackles in the season-opening loss to Saginaw Valley State for the Javelina football team. He added a half-tackle for loss as the defensive unit made a goal-line stand against the Cardinals early in the first half that led to a 99-yard touchdown drive on the following possession.

Joseph was an anchor for the defensive unit in the contest as the Hogs held SVSU to 90 rushing yards along with three takeaways, including one fumble and two interceptions.
