Gutierrez took home her first award of the year after pacing the Javelina golf program to a seventh-place finish at the Skyhawk Women’s Fall Intercollegiate in Albuquerque, N.M., last week as she conquered the course with a five-under 141 through 36 holes to claim the individual title.

The individual tournament championship is the first-ever for the Javelinas under the tutelage of head coach Stefanie Gray and it also stands as the lowest 36-hole score in her tenure at Kingsville.

Gutierrez was honored by the Lone Star Conference last week as she was named the LSC Women’s Golfer of the Week for her performance. The Laredo, Texas, native went into the clubhouse on the first day of the tournament with a one-under 72 at the University of New Mexico Championship Course after collecting four birdies on the day.
