Dr. Houf was named the Faculty Athletics Representative at Texas A&M-Kingsville in October 2019.
Houf, an Assistant Professor of History in the Department of History, Political Science and Philosophy at TAMUK, has been with the university since 2000 and has taken on several roles while at Kingsville. He stepped into his most recent position in 2018 after serving as the Assistant Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences beginning in 2013, was the Interim Dean of the college from 2011-12 and also served as the Interim Chair of the Department of Chemistry from 2014-17.
Before his time as the dean of the college, Houf was an Associate Professor from 2006-13 and served as Interim Chair for the Department of History from 2008-09 before taking on the same role in the Department of Mathematics from 2009-11. He began his tenure at TAMUK as Assistant Professor from 2000-05.
Houf graduated from Winthrop University (S.C.) with his bachelor’s degree in English in 1990 before completing his master’s degree in history from Florida State in 1997. He finished his doctoral degree in history from Florida State in 2002.
