Orlando Salinas

Orlando Salinas is entering his third season as head coach of the Javelina softball program after taking over the position during the 2022 season.

In his time coaching softball, Salinas has coached 12 all-conference players, a player-of-the year, a pitcher-of-the year and a gold glove winner.

A native of Kingsville, Salinas played his college ball for the Javelinas baseball program from 1993-94. A historic homecoming to the program that his father, Coach Hector Salinas, started in Kingsville.

Salinas began is coaching career as an assistant coach for Texas A&M-Kingsville baseball from 1995-98, he then coached at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi from 2000-05. He served as a professional scout from 1998-2015 and made his return to coaching for the 2021 season at Texas A&M-Corpus Christi.

Coach Salinas is currently marries to Elsie Salinas and has two kids. Orlando Salinas Jr who currently plays baseball at Kansas State, and Dominique Salinas who plays softball at Duke University.
