Corky Gallegos enters his third season with the Javelinas as the assistant coach for Javelina softball. In this position, Gallegos serves as the hitting, pitching and outfield coach for the softball program
In his time as a coach, Gallegos has played a direct role in coaching numerous all-conference players, he has also coached a former hitter of the year and conference player of the year for the Southland Conference.
Gallegos began his coaching tenure with Texas A&M-Kingsville, serving as an assitant coach from 1995-1996, winning a conference title along the way. He then moved on to be the head coach at Moody High School from 2001-2012, where his run was nothing short of legendary.
In his tenure with Moody High School, Gallegos won two state titles (2004, 2007), reached three more state titles (2003, 2006, 2009) and was a two-time Texascoach of the year (2004, 2007) after posting absurd records of 42-1 and 39-3 respectively.
From there, Gallegos would serve as the assistant coach for Texas A&M-Corpus Christi from 2022-2023. His first season there, Gallegos coached the Conference Hitter of the Year and the Conference Player of the Year for the Southland Conference. After the 2023 season, Gallegos would make his return to Texas A&M-Kingsville.
Gallegos is the proud father of three children: Christian, Bianca and Eva Rose Gallegos
