Eugene ‘Papa’ Dall enters his fifth year as a member of the Javelina Track & Field coaching staff after joining the staff in 2017-18.
Before moving to Kingsville, Dall taught and coached at North Rockland High School in Thiells, New York, for 47 years. While at North Rockland, Dall coached cross country for 21 years as well as winter and spring track for all 47 years.
During his tenure, North Rockland was the premiere program in New York State as his teams won 13 county sectionals in cross country to go with 44 league, 44 county, and 43 sectional titles across the winter and spring seasons. His athletes achieved 18 individual state championships, alongside state records in the pole vault, javelin and the shot put.
He coached John Stephens to an indoor national championship in the shot put, his son and Javelina head coach Ryan Dall to an outdoor national championship in the pole vault, and Jon Martinez to a junior national championship in the steeple chase. Ryan Dall, Ander Silberstein, and Martinez represented the United States in international competition while still in high school.
Eugene Dall was inducted in the Armory Track and Field Hall of Fame in New York in 2017. In addition, Dall is a member of the Rockland County Track and Field Hall of Fame and the North Rockland Hall of Fame.
He received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in Physical Education from Ithaca College and a Ph.D. in Administration from Fordham University.
Dall is married to his wife, Lonnie, and they have three children, Ryan, Shelley and Dasheen.
