High School: Four-year letterwinner in cross country at Moulton High School in Moulton, TX… as a team the Bob Katz qualified  for state in the 2011-2012 season… individually  Ty achieved the San Antonio 1A Runner of the Year Award in 2012 and garnered All-State Team and All-Region team positions from 2010 to 2012... he also participated in basketball, track and field, tennis, and baseball.
