John Maley

Assistant coach John Maley was named to the Javelina coaching staff in the Summer of 2023.

Maley is a native of Richeyville, PA., and has been coaching at the collegiate level for over 30 years. During this time, Coach Maley has produced 13 All-Americans, 31 professional players, including 6 MLB pitchers.
John began his college coaching career at Henderson State where he was the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator for two seasons. He spent the majority of his 14 seasons as the pitching coach and recruiting coordinator at St. Mary's University. After that, he was at Laredo Community College for one year as the head coach and then took the pitching coach job at Texas State. John then spent 7 years as the recruiting coordinator and pitching coach at The University of Incarnate Word, followed by 2 seasons at Schreiner University.
Coach Maley's credentials run long and wide, while leading multiple pitching staffs and pitchers to All-Conference, All-Region and All-American Honors. Maley, also, had two pitchers toss no-hitters while at UIW. Nathaniel Ramirez pitched the only perfect game in school history in 2008 and then Keith Vasquez tossed a no-hitter in 2009. During his coaching career at St. Mary's, pitchers recorded nine no-hitters, 22 one-hitters and 214 complete games while breaking virtually every league pitching record.
During his stint at St. Mary's, the Rattlers were perennial contenders for titles in both the Heart of Texas and Heartland conferences. One of the highlights of Maley's career came in 2001 when the Rattlers won the NCAA Division II National Championship and posted a 50-13 record.
Coach Maley graduated from Texas State in 1986 and then received a masters degree in education from Henderson State. He has two children, Emily and Kash.
