Head Coach Jason Gonzales of the Texas A&M-Kingsville baseball program announced the appointment of Jeremy Flores as the team’s next assistant coach on November 17, 2020, marking the return of the former Javelina to Nolan Ryan Field and the campus where he rewrote the record books.

Flores’ first year on staff saw Logan Garza named the LSC Newcomer of the Year as he landed on the All-LSC second team with fellow hurler Kolby Lunsford. Aldo Buendia also ended on the All-LSC honorable mention squad as a relief pitcher following the year.

Garza compiled 101 strikeouts on the season, good for fourth all-time in program history and only the fourth time a Javelina pitcher finished with 100+ strikeouts in a year. Garza also set a new program record .196 opponent batting average allowed on the year, allowing only 43 hits across 61 innings pitched.

Flores spent the last six seasons at Our Lady of the Lake, an NAIA institution located in San Antonio, as the baseball program’s assistant coach and recruiting coordinator.

In Flores’ six years at OLLU, the Saints compiled a 149-147-1 record as they reached the Red River Athletic Conference tournament in four of those seasons. In 2019 he helped lead the team to a second-place finish in the RRAC with the most wins in program history at 31-24.

During the 2019 campaign, two of Flores’ pitchers were named First Team All-RRAC in Logan Garza and Aaron Gonzalez as the entire staff set new team records for ERA and strikeouts and also threw the first no-hitter in program history.

16 Saints were named All-RRAC during Flores’ time in the dugout while he spent the 2017 season as the interim head coach to finish with a 23-27 overall record with four players bringing home postseason accolades.

Before his stint at OLLU, Flores spent the 2014 season as the assistant coach at TAMUK under Gonzales in a year that saw the program finished 38-20 with a third consecutive trip to the NCAA South Central Regional. Three Javelinas were named First Team All-South Central Region with another one the All-South Central Region second team, seven were named First Team All-LSC, three landed on the All-LSC second team and one was named All-LSC honorable mention.

Flores’ playing career for the Hogs ran from 2010-13 as he set new program records for single-season saves (14) and career saves (24), while he ended up on the top-10 lists for career ERA (4th - 3.70) and career appearances (2nd - 81). He was named to the LSC All-Tournament team in 2013, was tabbed First Team All-LSC that same year, and ended up named Second Team All-South Central Region by the NCBWA.

Flores is married to his wife, Katrina, and they have a daughter, Kyleigh.
