2021: Made 12 relief appearances out of the bullpen…finished with a 1-1 record and compiled a 5.94 ERA in 16.2 innings pitched…allowed 25 hits, issued six walks, stuck out 15 batters, and allowed 12 runs, 11 earned…threw season-high 2.2 innings against St. Mary’s on March 13…struck out season-high three batters against UT Tyler on April 1…didn’t allow a run in seven appearances…didn’t allow a hit against Eastern New Mexico on April 30…picked up the win over UAFS on February 27 with two strikeouts in 1.2 innings pitched

2020: Made one start and seven relief appearances…compiled a 4.50 ERA in eight innings pitched with one save…allowed nine hits and struck out seven…held opponents to a .281 batting average…recorded a save against St. Mary’s on March 7 with one strikeout in 0.1 innings pitched…season-high three strikeouts on February 2 against Oklahoma Christian in four innings pitched

2019: Made nine relief appearances and four starts for two saves…compiled a 6.65 ERA with 21 runs allowed, 17 earned, in 23 innings pitched…struck out 17 and issued 15 walks…allowed 27 hits for a .303 batting average…struck out a season-high four batters on two occasions, first against St. Mary’s on February 16 in three innings pitched for the save, and second against Angelo State on March 10 in three innings pitched…threw a season-high four innings against Oklahoma Christian on Feburary 8 with one strikeout en route to the save

2018: Made 11 relief appearances…compiled a 2.79 ERA through 9.2 innings pitched…held opponents to a .289 average while striking out 10 and issuing seven walks…struck out a season-high four on two occasions, against West Texas A&M (Mar. 10) and Cameron (May 4)

2017: Came out of the bullpen five times, totaling six innings pitched...Posted a 1.50 ERA and a 1-0 record...Was credited with his first collegiate victory against Texas A&M International, when he threw two scoreless innings in a 4-3 win.

2016: Did not receive any action in 2016.

High School: Dual sport athlete earning three letters in both baseball and football for Edinburg North High School in Edinburg, Texas…Team earned 2014 district and area championships and advance to the regional quarterfinals…2013 bi-district qualifiers…Set school record in wins with 22…2013 first baseman honorable mention and 2014 third team all-state pitcher, All-Valley designated hitter, first team all-district pitcher and DH and Region IV pitcher… 0-4 with a 2.42 ERA and 97 strikeouts as a junior.
 
Club: Played for two club teams…Spent a season with the Texas Lions out of San Antonio, Texas and followed with a year with the South Texas Venom out of Mission, Texas.
 
Personal: Full name is Alejandro Canul…Son of Tommy Canul and Elena Saustaita…Has four siblings; brothers Aaron, Robert and Danny and sister Alyssa…Aaron competed on the Texas A&M-Kingsville bass fishing team from 2013-15 and Alyssa is currently on the UT-Pan American track and field team…Aspires to become a professional baseball player or become a civil engineer…Chose Texas A&M-Kingsville because it was the best fit for him as a student-athlete and it gives his parents the opportunity to come and see him play…Admires his grandparents because they are some of the hardest working people he know and have taught him almost everything he needs to be successful in any aspect of his life…majoring in civil engineering.
