Biography

In 2013: As a red-shirt junior, Perez batted .307 as he started in 58 games with 57 at shortstop and one at third. He led the LSC in walks with 45 and was first on the Javelinas with a .459 on-base percentage. Perez finished third on the team in runs scored (39), third in HBP (7), fifth in RBI (32), fifth in doubles (9), fifth in total bases (75), and fifth in at bats (179). The senior finished with 14 multi-hit games with a 4-hit game against Arkansas-Monticello as he was 4-for-5 five with three runs scored and three, 3-hit games. He drove in two runs seven times and three runs twice. Perez reached base safely in 54 games. He had streaks of 10, 23, 4 and 17 games that he reached safely. He finished the season with an 8-game hitting streak. Defensively, he recorded a single-season record of 190 put outs.

In 2012: Perez played in six games before having his season cut short via injury. He hit .278 with three RBI and two runs scored. He had a three hits versus UT-Brownsville.

Previous: Perez appeared in 30 games and made 41 at bats as a freshman at Central Arizona. He transferred to New Mexico Junior College in 2011 where he hit .288 with 43 runs scored and a team high 45 RBI’s. He added seven doubles, six triples and a pair of homers.

High School: Perez was home schooled, but still played baseball and basketball. He earned all-conference and Montana all-state honors as a shortstop. He helped lead his team to a state championship in 2006.
