KINGSVILLE, Texas – The Texas A&M-Kingsville women's basketball team hits the road again, this time heading to Gunnison, Colorado taking on the Western Colorado Mountaineers in a return to regular season play. The Javelinas will be tipping off 7,703 feet above sea level in the Paul Wright Gym Friday at 6 P.M CT.
The Javelinas (0-3, 0-0 LSC) are heading into Friday's matchup after getting a taste of Conference USA action facing the UTEP Miners. The Javelinas putting the Miners on upset alert most of the game shot 50.0% from the field and 40.0% from beyond the arc in a game that saw the Javelinas out match UTEP in all shooting categories including free throw percentage.
Janessa Payne, the hot hand last time out hopes to continue on her roll as she shot perfectly from the field going 3-3 from beyond the arc and 4-4 from the field, leading her team in scoring with 11.
Western Colorado (0-2, 0-0 RMAC) comes into Friday after a 55-64 loss at the hands of Angelo State shooting 27.1% from the field and 18.5% from three, outrebounding the Rambelles however with 49 to their 40.
The Javelinas and Mountaineers have met one time in their history starting their matchups in 2022. The Javelinas dropped the last matchup 56-62 putting their all-time record at 0-1.
