Levi Johnson to be inducted into the Javelina Hall of Fame

KINGSVILLE, Texas – Texas A&M-Kingsville, and Javelina Athletics are excited to announce Levi Johnson as the first of five 2022 inductees into the Javelina Hall of Fame.

Johnson was a standout in football and track athlete during his time as Javelina (1969-72). On the gridiron, he was a member of the 1969 and 1970 national championship teams, a team captain in 1972, AP first-team All-American in 1971, NAIA first-team All-American, and an All-LSC first-team member.

On the track, Johnson was a member of the 1970 440-yard LSC gold medal relay team, that helped the Javelinas take home the team title in the LSC that year.

Following his time in Kingsville, Johnson was drafted in the third round of the 1973 NFL Draft by the Detroit Lions. He would play for five seasons from 1973-1977, accumulating 21 interceptions in his career.

Again, Levi Johnson is the first of five total inductees in the 2022 class for the Javelina Hall of Fame with one inductee being announced each Wednesday for the next four weeks.

Inductees will be officially honored and inducted this coming Spring at a time to be announced.
