THE MATCHUP

• Thursday, Feb 3, St. Edwards visits TAMUK for a Gold Rush contest with tip-off set for 5:30 p.m.
• St. Mary's comes to town on Saturday as the Javelinas don throwback uniforms with a 2 p.m. start time
• The Javelinas look to maintain their undefeated streak at home, which reached nine games following a victory over OC on Jan 22.
•St. Edwards (11-10, 4-6 LSC) maintains a record over .500, despite going 4-6 in conference play
• The Hilltoppers last took on West Texas in Austin, losing in overtime 79-77
• SEU has two averaging double-digit scoring numbers, with Lauren Catherman scoring 12 PPG and Taylor Cockerill at 10.8 PPG
• St. Mary's (2-15, 15 LSC) split their last two contests, besting Western New Mexico 59-47, before falling 88-80 to Cameron
• The Rattlers got the better of TAMUK during their last matchup, winning 56-52 on Dec 20,
• Sammy Dufek is ranked fifth nationally and leads the conference in blocks at 57, swatting 2.71 shots per game
• As a team, the Rattlers have blocked 85 shots, a mark that sits third in the country
 • StMU has had a tough time on the road this season, going 0-8 away from Bill Greehey Arena

 • The Javelinas fell to 6-2 in conference play following road losses to #7/10 A&M-Commerce and Ut Tyler
• TAMUC outscored TAMUK 81-71, despite four Javelinas scoring in double-digits, with Brianna Pena leading the game with 20 points at a 50 % clip.
• UT Tyler used a 19-2 second half-run to propel themselves past the Blue and Gold 70-63
• Devon Williams logged her first career double-double against the Patriots scoring 13 points at 60% shooting, while grabbing 12 rebounds

Hometown Heroes    
• The Javelinas remain undefeated at home through nine contests, including an upset of #1 ranked Lubbock Christian
•The last time TAMUK started this hot in the SPEC, they began the 2009-10 season 12-0 at home, before closing the season out 18-10 overall
 
Double-Double           
• Anastacia  Mickens recorded 17 points and 11 rebounds in a conference win over TAMIU for the programs first double-double of the season
•Mickens  represents the first Javelina to accomplish this feat since Bri-Anna Soliz scored 10 points and snagged 11 rebounds in a 58-39 loss to Angelo State on February 20, 2020.
• Devon Williams logged TAMUK's second double-double of the season logging
 
Chasing History         
• The Javelinas  6-0 start to conference play last happened in the 2000-01 season when TAMUK picked up wins in the first six LSC contests and finished the year 27-7 with an 11-3 league record
•The 2000-01 team also won the NCAA South Central Region tournament to make its first appearance in the NCAA Elite Eight
 
Down Goes Frazier    
• TAMUK  toppled the top-ranked team in the nation to wrap up the 2021 calendar year with a 59-42 win over No. 1/1 Lubbock Christian on December 31
• It is the first win over the No. 1-ranked team in program history and first win over the defending NCAA Division II National Champions
• The Javelinas held the Lady Chaps to their lowest scoring output since 2010, the lowest shooting percentage of the year and worst margin of defeat since 2016
 
Defense Wins Accolades      
• Anastacia Mickens became the second weekly defensive honoree of the season after helping the Javs hold a potent Dustdevils offense to 47.5 points across a pair of matches
• Devon Williams was named LSC Defensive Player of the Week following TAMUK's upset win over Lubbock Christian to wrap up the 2021 calendar year
• She became the first Javelina to receive either accolade from the league office since Anastacia Mickens was named Defensive Player of the Week on December 14, 2020
 
Third Time's The Charm       
• The Javelinas started 3-0 in league play following the win over Western New Mexico
• The last time TAMUK started 3-0 in the Lone Star Conference was the 2006-07 season
• The Javelinas have only started 3-0 in league play six times in program history
• The best start to the conference schedule came in the 1999-00 season when the Blue and Gold started 7-0 en route to a 15-1 finish and the program's only LSC regular season and tournament championship
 
Texas Two-Step        
• Anastacia Mickens put up 24 points, a new career-high, in a 66-56 win at home against Western Oregon on November 24
• It is the most points by a Javelina in a game since Cloe Lane put up 25 in a 66-65 loss to Texas Woman's on February 7, 2019
• Only two Javelinas surpassed 20 points in a game in the 2020-21 season

Blanked          
• The Javelinas held Chadron State to zero points in the third quarter en route to a 58-51 win on November 12 to open the season
• It is the first time ever the Javelinas held their opponents to zero points in a quarter since the NCAA shifted to the quarter format ahead of the 2015-16 season
• Since head coach Michael Madrid took over, the Javelinas have held their opponents to fewer than 10 points in a quarter 39 times
