MICHAEL MADRID POSTGAME INTERVIEW | JAYDE TSCHRITTER POSTGAME INTERVIEW
The Javelinas (8-8, 8-8 LSC) finished with a .500 record in league play for the first time since the 2009-10 season while sending the Patriots (0-14, 0-14 LSC) back to Tyler winless.
Freshman
Jayde Tschritter (Corpus Christi, Texas) paced the Blue and Gold with 18 points on a 6-for-11 clip from the floor, matching her career high. She also added four assists, two steals and two rebounds to her total.
Classmate
Janessa Payne (Aledo, Texas) added 15 points of her own along with eight rebounds and her sixth game of the year shooting over .500 from beyond the arc with at least four attempts as she finished on a 5-for-9 clip from long range.
Fellow newcomer
Annelise Dominguez (El Paso, Texas) rounded out the trio as she poured in 14 points off the bench with a 5-for-12 mark from the field and a 4-for-10 rate from the perimeter. As a team, the Javelinas finished 15-for-35 from three, their most triples scored in a game in the 2020-21 season and fifth game of the year shooting over .400 from deep.
The Javelinas took over the game early by building a 15-5 cushion by the first media timeout of the game. The hosts converted that lead into a 26-9 edge by the start of the second and ended up with a 42-24 gap at halftime.
TAMUK ended up in cruise control from there, pushing the lead as high as 25 early in the fourth with a 56-31 score showing on the board with 7:12 remaining in the game and ended up with the win not long after.
This contest concludes the regular season for the Javelinas as they missed out on the LSC Tournament by way of the updated Point Rating System established for the 2020-21 campaign due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
