Home schedule closes with TAMUK facing Texas Woman's, Tarleton

Tipoff for Faculty Appreciation vs TWU set for 5:30 p.m. on Thursday, February 27; Senior Night set for 2 p.m. tip on Saturday, February 29

THE MATCHUP    
• The Javelinas close the regular season at home as they host Texas Woman's on Thursday, February 27, for the annual Faculty Appreciation game starting at 5:30 p.m. at the SPEC
• Senior Night is set for Saturday, February 29, at 2 p.m. against Tarleton
• TAMUK is looking to snap a six-game skid as they fell to Angelo State and No. 8/14 Lubbock Christian last week
• TWU swept the opposition last week with a 67-61 win over St. Edward's and a 65-55 win over St. Mary's at home
• Ma'K'La Woods leads the team with an 11.3 scoring average to go with a 5.1 rebounding average
• Brielle Woods and London Archer follow suit at 9.1 and 8.1 points per game, respectively
• Ngozi Obineke, Macy Wilkerson and Sadie Mayer rotate in the starting lineup with Obineke leading the group at 7.0 ppg
• The Texans dropped both games last week at home to St. Mary's and St. Edward's at 74-67 and 70-64, respectively
• The contest against St. Mary's went into overtime, the second time in the last two weeks TSU had at least one game going into an extra period
• Mackenzie Hailey leads the team with a 15.5 scoring and 7.0 rebounding average
• She will be joined by Alexa Hoy at 9.7 points and 2.0 rebounds per game
• Marissa Escamilla is first off the bench with 8.5 points per game and 5.1 rebounds per game

Run It Back    
• The Javelinas fell 58-39 to Angelo State before dropping the contest to No. 8/14 Lubbock Christian at 71-29
• Bri-Anna Soliz posted her first double-double of the year in the loss to the Rambelles at 10 points and 11 rebounds
• Anastacia Mickens followed with eight points and six rebounds in the starting lineup
• Soliz added another 10 points in the loss to the Lady Chaps along with six rebounds
• Bridget Upton and Treazure Mouton both added six points in the loss, while Mouton matched Soliz with six rebounds

Get Back on Defense    
• The Javelinas held the Patriots to 38 points in the win on January 9, the ninth time in program history TAMUK held opponents to fewer than 40 points
• It is the third time in the last four seasons the Javelinas held an opponent to fewer than 40 points after limiting Chadron to 37 in 2018-19 and 35 to East Central in 2016-17
• The fewest points allowed came in the inaugural season in 1977-78 with a 48-27 win over St. Mary's
• TAMUK held the Rattlers to two points in the first quarter on January 18, the lowest total allowed from an opponent all year
• In total, the Javelinas have held opponents to fewer than 10 points in a quarter on 17 separate occasions, the most recent being nine points allowed in the first quarter to Angelo State on February 20

Seeing Double    
• There have been three double-doubles on the year so far for the Javelinas
• Jalynn Johnson recorded the first two with exactly 11 points and 10 rebounds on two separate occasions
• Her first double-double came against UAFS on November 23 and she matched the feat against UT Permian Basin on December 19
• Bri-Anna Soliz posted the third with 10 points and 11 rebounds against Angelo State on February 20, her fifth career double-double
• TAMUK recorded six double-doubles as a team in 2018-19, with Bri-Anna Soliz posting the most at four, that last at 15 points and 13 rebounds against Cameron on February 28

Fill the Stat Sheets    
• Three Javelinas have scored in double figures on four different occasions, most recently in a 56-48 loss to Texas A&M International on February 15
• Anastacia Mickens put up 14 points, along with 12 from Madison Lucas and 10 from Bridget Upton
• TAMUK also had three players score in double digits against St. Edward's on February 8 in a 78-52 loss, Midwestern State on January 30 in a 54-50 win, and St. Mary's on January 18 in a 64-62 overtime loss
• In total, the Javelinas have had someone record at least 10 points on 37 separate occasions, with Mickens and Ravae Payne both with the single-season high at 23
• Payne put away 23 in the loss to TAMIU on December 14, while Mickens added 23 in the 55-48 loss to StMU on February 6

• In 2019-20: Has appeared in 14 games; season-high 17 minutes against CU on Feb. 1
• In 2018-19: Season-high 21 minutes against Black Hills State on Nov. 9, scored five points against A&M-C on Jan. 31
• Transfer from Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, appeared in 22 games for NEO, averaging 2.4 ppg

#1 Daisah Purnell    
• In 2019-20: Has appeared in 20 games with three starts; season-high 11 points against UTT on January 9; 29 minutes against TAMIU on Dec. 14
• Transfer from Highland Community College; appeared in 27 games, averaged 7.8 points and 3.3 rebounds per game in 2018-19; averaged 2.8 points and 1.8 rebounds per game in 2017-18

#4 Bridget Upton    
• In 2019-20: Has appeared in 20 games, with 16 straight starts, with her first career start coming against WNMU on Dec. 21; season-high 16 points against StMU on Jan. 18 and ENMU on Jan. 25
• In 2018-19: Season-high 18 minutes against TAMUC on Jan. 31, six points against TSU on Feb. 2 and ASU on Dec. 6
• 2018 Offensive Player of the Year for George West H.S., All-Region, All-South Texas and CBCA All-Star selection

#5 Madison Lucas    
• In 2019-20: Has appeared in 21 games with six starts; season-high 31 minutes and 12 points aginst Texas A&M International on February 15
• True freshman from Houston, Texas
• Prepped at St. Agnes Academy

#10 Treazure Mouton    
• In 2019-20: Has appeared in all 22 games with 12 starts; season-high 13 points against MSU Texas on Jan 30; season-high 38 minutes and seven assists against StMU on Feb. 6
• Transfer from Temple College, also played at Tyler Junior College
• Appeared in 30 games, averaged 6.8 points and 5.2 rebounds per game last year
• From Houston, Texas, prepped at Hightower High School

#11 Angelica Wall    
• In 2019-20: Has appeared in 16 games; career-high five points against A&M-C on Jan. 11
• In 2018-19:  Totaled 18 minutes against TAMUC on Dec. 1; scored four points against Tarleton on Feb. 2
• Appeared in 27 total games for two years for Adams State, averaged 2.6 ppg in 2016-17
• Averaged 3.3 minutes in 2015-16 and 8.2 minutes in 2016-17

#13 Ravae Payne    
• In 2019-20: Has appeared in 12 games with 11 starts; career-high 23 points against TAMIU on Dec 14, matched on Jan. 4 against TWU and 40 minutes against UTPB on Dec. 19; hasn't played since Jan. 16 against St. Edward's
• In 2018-19: Ended the year scoring double figures in three of her last four contests, including 17 against CU on Feb. 28
• Transfer from South Plains College; appeared in 14 games, averaged 1.3 points on 3.5 minutes per game for SPC

#21 Jalynn Johnson
