Javelinas stay at No. 3 nationally, No. 1 in the region

TAMUK receive first place votes for first time in 2019

INDIANPOLIS – For the second straight week, the Texas A&M-Kingsville softball team earned the No. 3 spot in the National Fastpitch Coaches Association poll and were placed at No. 1 in the South Central regional rankings. The Javelinas also received two first-place votes in the NFCA rankings, their first two of the season.

For the Javelinas, this comes after a week in which they won all five of their games, including a sweep of Midwestern State in their last home series of the regular season. Their record stands at 38-8, tied for the second-highest win total in program history. TAMUK has now spent five weeks in the NFCA's top 10.

Also staying put in the national poll were both of TAMUK's closest pursuers in the Lone Star Conference: No. 6 West Texas A&M and No. 8 A&M-Commerce. Tarleton improved from No. 22 to No. 19. Those three schools, along with the Javs, make up the top four spots in the region, but Commerce is ahead of WT. The Cameron Aggies own fifth, followed by Colorado Mesa, Angelo State and St. Mary's, which rounds out the top eight.
