HOW IT HAPPENED
West Texas A&M scored the first run of the game after Maddie Green crushed a pitch over the center field wall in the second inning. In the fourth, the home team pushed the lead to 3-0 after Shea Ibrahim singled to left center field to drive in Shanna McBroom and Shayne Starkey who singled and walked, respectively, earlier in the frame.
The Javelinas finally responded and was given new life in the top of the fifth inning with a dinger to left center field from Schoonard-Saborio. However, in the home half inning, Green struck again for her second bomb of the game— this time a two-run homer to extend WT's lead 5-1. Schoonard-Saborio walked in a run in the sixth inning, but the Lady Buffs closed the door with a 5-2 victory and 2-1 series win.
