KINGSVILLE, Texas (Softball) – Texas A&M University-Kingsville (20-21, 9-11 LSC) opened the series with a shutout as they trampled Eastern New Mexico University (18-31,10-15 LSC) 8-0 on Thursday evening at Vernie and Blanche Hubert Field.

Carlie Clark tossed her second no-hitter in as many seasons after the program went 11 years without seeing a no-no. Offensively, Texas A&M-Kingsville dominated and scored in every inning. Randa Hatter went 2-for-3 at the dish, featured by a two-run shot over the left field wall to seal the run-ruled game. Victoria Schoonard-Saborio extended her reached base streak to 19 games, her multiple hit games to 17 after she recorded two hits and bumped her hit streak to eight games. Haley Boyett, Roxy Chapa and Clark all added one hit in the route.    

HOW IT HAPPENED
The Hogs got things started with a Longoria walk, a single to first from Schoonard-Saborio and both was advanced to second and third, respectively, after a SAC bunt from Arabella Acosta-Cantu. Chapa then reached on a fielding error from the shortstop and Longoria made a clean break to home plate for the first run of the evening. In the next stanza, the Hogs stretched their lead to 4-0 thanks to Longoria walking in a run and a two-RBI double to left field from Schoonard-Saborio.

Hatter opened the third inning with a double to right field followed by a walk for Lauren Oatman before Boyett's RBI single padded the lead. Boyett advanced to second on the throw home to stop Hatter's score and Alexei Gonzalez hit a SAC fly to plate Oatman for a 6-0 lead. The Hogs put the icing on the cake in the bottom of the fourth after a double from Chapa was followed by a missile over the fence from Hatter, her fifth of the season. 

Clark (3-7) finished the job in the top of the fifth frame and logged her fourth complete game of the season. The senior threw one strikeout and walked four in five innings. 

Kaylee Rogers (14-16) was charged with the loss after splitting four innings with Katie Ripple in the circle. Rogers gave up six runs on five hits while Ripple earned two runs on two hits and neither was able to record a strikeout.

The series continues with a twin bill tomorrow beginning at 1 p.m.
