Caudle Goes 3-for-3, Big First Leads to Conference Opening Victory

Javelinas defeated Texans 5-4

KINGSVILLE, Texas (Baseball) – All it took was one inning at Texas A&M University-Kingsville (13-7, 1-0 LSC) scored all five runs in the bottom of the first and Jako Kelm tossed 4.0 shutout innings out of the bullpen to lead the Javelinas to a 5-4 victory over #RV Tarleton State University (16-9, 0-1 LSC) Friday evening at Nolan Ryan Field.

Jimmy Roche's single up the middle, Pablo Hernandez drove in two and an error plated a third run on the single and Levi Zents capped off the frame with an opposite field single.

Defense was big down the stretch with Zents and Roche highlighting a good showing. Christian Caudle finished 3-for-3 with a walk and Zents added two hits.

HOW THEY SCORED
Tarleton State began with a run in the first but TAMUK followed with five runs to take a 5-1 lead. The Texans added one in the third and two in the fifth but the Javelina bullpen shut the door as southpaw Jako Kelm struck out four in relief.
