Small Ball, Defensive Miscues Give Cameron Series Opener

Doubleheader tomorrow begins at 1 p.m.

KINGSVILLE, Texas (Baseball) – No. 25 Texas A&M University-Kingsville (11-5) took a 2-0 lead after one but Cameron University's (16-6) small ball led to four runs in the eighth and ninth innings to give the Aggies the series opener, 4-2, Friday evening at Nolan Ryan Field.

HOW THEY SCORED
Christian Caudle reached on a one out single and Hunter Perkins followed with a double to put runners in scoring position. Jimmy Roche gave the Hogs a 2-0 lead with a double to the gap.

Seth Hubert was dominant in the series opener as the right-hander tossed 7.0 shutout innings. Despite the six strikeouts, Hubert picked up the no-decision, but small ball for the Aggies led to two runs in the eighth to knot it up and two go-ahead runs in the ninth. In the two innings, Cameron bunted five times and A&M-Kingsville had three errors.

TAMUK had the tying run on first base in the ninth but could not complete the comeback.
