Dalton Perry walked in the first to extend his reached base safely streak to 23 games in No. 25/16 Texas A&M University-Kingsville's (23-11, 14-7 LSC) 11-1 loss Friday afternoon at McCord Field to Cameron University (22-11, 10-11 LSC).
Perry finished with two base on balls and
Ruben Almaguer walked to extend his reached base safely streak to 17 games.
Preston Plovanich (3-1) allowed just one run in his first 6.0 innings of work but was finished with eight strikeouts in 6.1 innings. The left-hander was tagged with the loss after allowing five runs – two earned.
Cameron struck first in the bottom of the second with a run but Plovanich settled down and followed with 4.0 scoreless innings. The Javelinas knotted the game up at 1-1 on
Christian Caudle's RBI single in the top of the fourth.
However, errors became a factor in the seventh as the Aggies scored four runs – one earned – in the frame to regain the lead, 5-1. A two-run home run added to CU's lead in the eighth and Cameron sealed the series opening win 11-1 later in the frame.
Logan Fanning (4-0) earned the victory after six strikeouts in 3.0 relief innings.
The Javelinas are 3-2 against the Aggies this season. The series concludes tomorrow with a double dip beginning at 1 p.m.
