LAREDO, Texas (Women's Basketball) – The fall semester has come to a close and Texas A&M University-Kingsville (4-2) returns to the hardwood Saturday to take on Texas A&M International University (0-8) at 6 p.m. in the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building.
THE GAME
TIP OFF
The Javelinas have moved up from receiving votes in the Division II Media Poll sponsored by Division II Sports Information Directors of America South Central Region to No. 7 with 14 votes. The Hogs are coming off a 67-55 victory versus Texas Woman's University Dec. 1.
LAST TIME THEY MET
The Hogs defeated the Dustdevils 60-46 in the first meeting this season Nov. 22. In the win,
Kaylin Roher finished with 12 points, seven rebounds and six steals,
Meesha Wade added 12 points on 5-of-10 shooting and eight rebounds and
Kaylee Kana pulled down seven offensive rebounds and nine total boards.
The all-time series edge goes to A&M-Kingsville 11-8 though the series is tied at 4-4 in Laredo.
LAST TIME OUT
The three point shot fell in bunches as the Blue and Gold downed the Pioneers – a team picked to finish third in the Lone Star Conference Preseason Poll – behind five triples in the third period. The Hogs finished 9-of-17 from behind-the-arc, led by Kana's 16 points, five rebounds, four assists and three steals.
Roher and
Tee Moore reached double figures with 17 points and 14 points, respectively.
Next Up
Following Saturday's tilt, the Hogs return to the Gil E. Steinke Physical Education Center for the final time in 2016 to host St. Mary's University Tuesday at 5:15 p.m.
