Three Reach Double Figures in Blowout Victory

Hogs improve to 5-2

LAREDO, Texas (Women's Basketball) – Madison Crawford finished 5-of-7 with 13 points off the bench and Texas A&M University-Kingsville (5-2) dominated its way to a 85-55 victory over Texas A&M International University (0-9) Saturday evening at the TAMIU Kinesiology and Convocation Building.

Kaylin Roher finished with a team-high 18 points on 6-of-8 shooting (5-of-7 from three-point range) and Jaiton Walls was 5-of-6 with 13 points.

With the win, the Javelinas match last season's start of 5-2. The 85 total points were the most since Feb. 12, 2014 when the Hogs battled Texas Woman's University in a three overtime game, 107-102.

A&M-Kingsville went 12-of-19 from three-point range and shot 53.7 percent from the floor in the victory.

First Period
The Javelinas went on a 9-0 run following TAMIU's first points of the ballgame, taking a 9-3 lead with 6:43 remaining in the first. The run reached 12 before the Dustdevils scored again, and minutes later, Roher hit her second triple of the quarter to extend the lead to nine.

The three point shot continued to fall as Meesha Wade's corner jumper increased the lead to 12. A second chance and-one bucket for Crawford capped off the opening stanza for the Hogs. Through the game's first 10 minutes, A&M-Kingsville led 22-13. Roher and Walls scored seven points apiece and Wade dished out two assists.

Second Period
The momentum carried over into the second with Shaq Debose finding Walls for a fast break bucket, forcing a Dustdevil timeout seconds into the period.

The second chance buckets continued to fall as Debose drained her first and-one following Kaylee Kana's offensive rebounds, and Tee Moore, who earned her bachelor's degree yesterday, joined the three-point party with her first, extending the lead to 30-15 with 7:51 left to play.

Roher connected on two more three-pointers in the first half to become the game's first double digit scorer. Following her second triple of the period, Kana's swipe led to an Emmeri Archer three to extend the lead to 14. Ope Ibrahim's offensive board led to an easy bucket and Roher's second steal of the game was capped off with a transition layup to add on to the Javelina lead, 46-28, with 2:38 left to play in the first half. The Hogs went into the half up big, 48-33.

Roher led all players with 15 points on 5-of-7 shooting, including going 4-of-6 from three-point range. The Javelinas continued to shoot the ball well, compiling a field goal percentage of 58.1 percent and three-point percentage of 63.6. With the four triples in the first half, Roher upped her career total to 77, 10th most in school history.

Third Period
Seconds into the second half, Roher tied her career-high with her fifth three-pointer of the game and Kana followed with her first of the ballgame.

Crawford's three from the wing was followed with a beautiful pass inside for Walls to extend the lead to 64-39 with 4:16 left to play in the third.

Through three, the Hogs led the Dustdevils 74-42. Roher had 18 points and three steals, Walls followed with 13 points and three assists and Kana pulled down six rebounds.

The third period was dominated by the Javelinas, 26-9.
