KINGSVILLE, Texas (Women's Basketball) –
Texas A&M University-Kingsville (5-6, 0-1 LSC) returns to the Gil E. Steinke Physical Education Center-Kingsville Hampton Inn Court to take on Tarleton State University (7-6, 1-2 LSC) on Jan. 9 at 6 p.m. Saturday's contest is H-E-B Community Appreciation Day in the SPEC and fans are invited to support the Javelinas for both the men's and women's contests as admission is free.
 
Following the women's contest, the men will host No. 9/15 Tarleton State looking to upset a Final Four team from a season ago.
 
Last Time Out
Kaylee Kana scored 10 points and added eight rebounds in the Lone Star Conference opener Wednesday at Texas A&M University-Commerce. Kaylin Roher and Jamesha Wade also reached double figures with 13 points and 10 points, respectively.
 
The TexAnns earned their first conference win of the season in dominating fashion, downing Angelo State University, 94-65, on Jan. 6. Bailey Wipff scored 22 points in the win on 9-11 shooting and Meagan O'Dell poured in 21 points.
 
Season Statistics
Roher leads the team in points per game with 11.7 and steals (1.7). The projected lineup will be Roher, TaSheena Moore (7.8 points, 3.9 rebounds and 2.5 assists), Wade (7.5 points, 3.8 rebounds, 1.9 assists and a steal), Kana (7.0 points, 3.8 rebounds, 0.9 assists and 0.9 steals) and Lily Hospers (2.3 points, 4.7 rebounds, 0.4 assists) with Kyra Bauer (7.8 points, 93.1 percent free throw shooting, 4.0 rebounds, 0.9 assists) being one of the top second unit players in the conference.
 
Wipff leads Tarleton State with 13.9 points and is one of the best shooters in Division II, averaging 45.8 percent from three-point range and 92.3 percent from the charity stripe. She adds 2.2 rebounds and 1.2 assists per contest. Ikpeaku Iwobi is averaging 10.5 points and 9.0 rebounds and O'Dell has come off the bench in all 13 games to average 8.1 points, 1.7 rebounds and 1.5 assists. Raven McGrath and Morgan Ashmore are expected to start along with Wipff and Iwobi and Averie Mack scored 10 points in her second start of the season in Wednesday's win over Angelo State.
 
The Javelinas are 17-22 all-time against the TexAnns but are in the midst of an 11-game losing streak versus Tarleton State. The last victory over TSU came on Jan. 30, 2010 in Kingsville, 63-62.
